5 Women’s Fashion Trends for Spring/Summer ‘18
A new year means a new season in fashion. We are particularly excited for this year’s spring/summer collections. With so many fantastic trends emerging, here are our top five for spring/summer 2018…
Each year the pastel trend reemerges in the spring. For 2018 pastels get a bold update in top to toe shades. Not for the faint hearted, this trend is a great way to embrace colour with a softer palette.
‘Delicacy can be strong,’ - Victoria Beckham. This season it’s all about power dressing in pastels. Think Cropped tailored trousers and an open boyfriend fit blazer in the same pastel shade, teamed with a cream cami tucked in and a pair of cream heeled loafers. This year pastels are strong, allowing you to be bold in your colour choices.
Heritage inspired checks are going nowhere for spring/summer ‘18. Popular during the previous season, checks are getting an update for the warmer weather. Try a summer dress in a red check print, or ‘50s style high waist shorts in a black and white gingham.
If you’re not big on print, try adding checks through accessories, such as a check bag or scarf, for a subtle nod towards the trend.
If the catwalks and latest collections are anything to go by, this summer is going to be very bright. The shows boasted a huge variety of vibrant shades to suit every colouring. Whether you’re happy in brights from head to toe, or you’re happier with a pop of colour, there will be a bright to suit you this season.
Try summer dresses in tomato red, or for just a pop of colour try a cross body bag in turquoise, or a clutch for special occasions in bright pink.
This super playful trend allows you to have fun with fashion this season. From cutout panels and layered skirts, to full sheer sleeves, it’s all about playing peekaboo with fashion this summer. Light jackets were even sheer on the catwalk, but for a more wearable look try a midi dress with sheer panels at the waist, or a sheer layered skirt with a shorter under skirt.
Fashion has gone romantic for spring/summer 2018. As seen on the Alexander McQueen, Givenchy and Valentino catwalks, pretty ruffles and lace are big for the season ahead. While ruffles from head to toe might not be practical for day to day wear, they do offer the perfect way to add a feminine and timeless edge to your look.
Try teaming a pretty lace and ruffle hem blouse with skinny jeans and ankle boots to add balance to this pretty look. Or opt for a lace and ruffle midi dress for a special occasion, adding balance with nude strappy heels and a studded clutch.
